Course Objectives
1.Teaching the recent history of Turkey to university students.
2.Enlightening students about Turkish Revolution, Atatürk’s political doctrine and his principles. 3.Promoting embracement of
Turkey’s aim and mission of modernization by university students.
Course Description
A definition of Revolution/Renovation. The aim and the importance of the Turkish history of renovation. General state of the
Ottoman Empire, the reason for the decline. Efforts to save the Ottoman Empire. The current ideals. The First World War.
Societies. Mustafa Kemal in Anatolia and the Congresses. The opening of the Great Turkish National Assembly. Reactions to the
National Government. National and International policy. The Mudanya treaty. Lousanne Conference. |
