Course Description |
Fundamental concepts-systems, states, equilibrium, the first, second, and third law of thermodynamics and
applications and roles of these concepts in geologic understanding; Enthalpy, entropy, and free energy concepts
and their usages in paragenetic mineral assemblages. Thermodynamics of solutions and ore forming medias.
Phase equilibria, phase rule and phase diagrams. Mineral equilibria-equilibrium constant, partial pressure and
activity diagrams, Eh-pH diagrams. Evaluation of thermodynamic data in understandings of petrological and ore
forming process Case studies from home and the World |
