Course Description |
Description of crystallography, crystal, crystallization definitions and crystal systems. Symmetry and symmetry elements. Crystal and
mineral chemistry, bonds. Introduction to mineralogy, Mineral, mineraloid, amorphous, ore and industrial mineral concepts.
Chemical, physical, mechanical and optical properties of minerals. Systematic (descriptive) mineralogy (natural elements, sulfides,
oxides, carbonates, borates, silicates, etc.)
Introduction to magmatic petrography. Rock cycle, mineral and rock relationships, magma, crystallization of magma and the
classifications of magmatic rocks, descriptions of different magmatic rock families. Introduction to metamorphic petrography. The
concept of metamorphism, types of metamorphic rocks, textural properties. The concept of facies in metamorphism. Metamorphic
