Course Description
The aim of the course is to introduce the students to the nature, diversity and metabolic impact of microorganisms and the type of solid phases they interact with. The class deals with processes that occur at cell surface interface between microbes and minerals, and within cells, and the resulting mineral precipitation, dissolution, and changes in aqueous geochemistry. Microbial evolution and their geological consequences will also be discussed throughout the class.
