Course Description |
The field study is one of the essential skills in order to understand rocks and all related geological processes. This
course aims to teach students how to organize, carry on and finalize a field study and it covers classical methods
such as taking note in the field, observation techniques, and using basic equipments (e.g. hummer, compass and
Jacop staff), which are aided by the modern ones (e.g. interpretation of aerial and satellite imagery and using
digital elevation models). The course is designed to provide 4 dimensional thinking in making and interpretation
of a geological map and cross-sections. In additon to theoretical lessons, 6 days of field excursion at the
weekends during the term and 15 days of a field camp at the end of term will be performed. |
