Course Description |
This course presents fundamental knowledge on the principles of rock mechanics by providing instructions on
“rock-engineering-related basic terms and definitions, index properties of rock materials, stress-strain concept,
failure criteria, deformability and failure characteristics of rock materials especially at various governing
circumstances, rock mass concept, engineering properties of discontinuities including their mechanical, hydraulic
and hydro-mechanical behaviors, stability of rock slopes, in-situ stresses in rock masses, rock mass deformability
due to surface and underground excavations, rock supporting systems, laboratory and in-situ testing methods,
rock mass classification systems, and hydraulic fracturing of unconventional hydrocarbon reservoirs”. |
