Course Description
Tectonic setting of Turkey, concepts of Tethys, Laurasia, Gondwana, Tectonic framework of Turkey. Pontides (Strandja, Istanbul and Sakarya zones), Anatolide-Tauride Block (Tavşanlı and Afyon zones, Menderes Massif, Bornova Flysch Zone, Lycian Nappes, western, central and eastern Taurides), southeast Anatolia (Arabian Platform). Thrace basin and the Neogene basins in western Turkey. Neotectonic phase in Turkey. Plate tectonic evolution of Turkey.
