Course Description |
This course encourages students to think of the role of spatial practices and place practices in art, architectural, and urban
studies; and directs them to practice and discuss on space and place. In the course, mapping, film-making, writing as
topographical practices are conducted on place, at place, and with locals. Place, site and site-specificity in architecture a re
problematized. Discussions on the production of public space by architectural and art practices are conducted.
Criticising the roles of the architect and artist through gender issues, readings are made on performance, documentation,
representation in art and architecture. Contemporary projects in architecture, art and urbanism in Istanbul and the world are
discussed. |
