Course Description |
Marine Geology studies the geology of marine basins, including their morphology, geological evolution,
sedimentology and mineral and hydrocarbon resources. Some marine basins are characterized by geohazards
such as earthquakes, volcanic activity, submarine landslides and associated tsunamis. Marine sediments are
excellent recorders of oceanographic, sealevel and climatic changes. This course will introduce the concepts,
methods and techniques of studying these different aspects of marine basins with an earth-science system
approach. |
