Course Description |
The content of this course consists of biogeochemical events taking place in biological and geological components
and different reservoirs of the earth. The aim of this course is to teach the effects and results of different types
and densities of biological activity on main reservoir chemistries. In the first lessons, the effects of biogeochemical
processes between the concepts of atmosphere, earth and hydrosphere will be discussed. How the main
reservoirs are controlled by biogeochemical cycles will be discussed in the following weeks. Then, the movement
of the biologically important elements Carbon Nitrogen and Phosphorus on a global scale will be examined.
Finally, the concept of bio-marking, biogeochemistry of microbial communities in hydrothermal systems and
storage of organic matter in marsh environments will be discussed. |
