Course Description |
The concept of historical urban fabric. Measures relative to the integration of the
historic urban fabric with contemporary life styles. Discussion of different architectural
approaches relative to the modern buildings built,and to be built, within the historic urban
fabric and to contemporary additions made to historic buildings. The concept of urban
identity and a consideration of the effects on urban identity of contemporary buildings
within the historic urban context. Design guidelines relative to contemporary buildings
within the historic urban fabric and a discussion of their interactions. Analysis of guiding
principles. Revitalization of the historic districts and a consideration of the contributions of
urban transformation projects on to the urban identity. Case studies: analysis and
evaluation of relative examples from Turkey the rest of the world. |
